Vernazza with Sue and Anne

I am finally getting around to uploading some photos from the couple of days Moira and I spent with Sue and Ann in and around Vernazza, a lovely town in the middle of Cinque Terre.

Twisting throughway near our hotel.

Sue took this shot; we were at an outdoor beer/pizza place right on the water.

View of Vernazza.

Stairway in Sue and Anne's hotel, with rope bannister and tennis shoe.

Doors are eyecatching.

Door close-up -- better at higher res but...

There's a lot of up and down in Vernazza.

No filters or special effects -- the light was just like this at this late-afternoon moment.

Vernazza suffered a terrible flood/mud-slide about a year ago.   See, for example, http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=rPtVoqCUDS0&feature=endscreen or http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=rPtVoqCUDS0&feature=endscreen .These are buckets still in routine use as they dig out of the sludge.

Arty Cleat.

Arty Wall.

Really arty wall (part of a very large and powerful mural).
View of sea from walk between Vernazza and Manarola.

Fence near Manarola with rock posts.
